  • ½ cup or 100 grams Foxtail Millets
  • ½ cup or 80 grams Jaggery
  • 2 ½ cups water for cooking millets
  • ½ cup water for Jaggery syrup
  • ½ cup boiled milk
  • 4 to 5 pods cardamom
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 6 cashew nuts
  • 6 almonds
  • 5 pistachios
  • 15 raisins


  1. Soak millets in water 30 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, you can prepare Jaggery Syrup.
  3. Take jaggery into a saucepan, pour ½ cup water and keep it on a high flame.

  4. When the syrup starts to boil, turn the flame to simmer and add crushed cardamoms.
  5. Boil on simmer until the syrup turns greasy. String consistency is not required.
  6. You should feel like touching oil when you touch with your fingers.
  7. When the syrup is ready, turn off the flame and keep aside.
  8. Rinse the millets, pour 2 ½ cups water and keep it on a high flame.
  9. When the millets start to boil turn the flame to simmer and cook until perfectly done.
  10. Meanwhile, melt ghee in a small pan and roast cashew nuts, almonds, raisins until they turn light brown. Keep aside.
  11. When the millets are perfectly cooked, add boiled milk, mix well and cook until the milk disappears.

  12. turn off the flame and keep aside for 5 minutes.

  13. Later, pour the jaggery through a strainer and mix well.
  14. Add roasted nuts serve hot.
