I prefer making this Chicken Dosa on Sundays than normal days as it takes a little more time than the regular dosa. Sometimes I make Poori with keema curry. even that’s a great combination. chicken dosa is a very quick&easy and can be taken as a post workout meal as low carb breakfast recipe. the rice in dosa contains carbohydrates. but you can reduce the carbohydrates by adding the cooked rice(mashed or ground) to the plain black gram/urad dal batter instantly.
I have pre-boiled the chicken for this recipe. but you can directly cook the chicken. I prefer boiled chicken because we can make a variety of fillings for dosa at a time. you can make schezwan chicken or chili chicken by simply adding the bottled sauces or chutneys instantly. you can also use minced chicken for this recipe.
cheese is an optional ingredient. but tastes even better with cheese. one dosa is the serving size. if you can’t resist yourself then you can have half dosa. street food vendors charge around 150 to 200 rupees for a single dosa. at home, we can make 3 to 4 dosas with the same amount. Text version of Chicken Dosa Recipe
- 250 grams chicken breast/thighs
- 2 liters water(for boiling chicken)
- Salt as required
- 4 cloves
- 4 cardamoms
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 medium onions paste
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 green chilies
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 ½ tsp red chili powder
- 2 small tomatoes paste
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- ½ cup water
- ¼ tsp sugar
- ¼ cup coriander leaves
- 2 Spoons Dosa batter
- 40 to 50 grams chicken curry
- 1 egg
- ౩0 grams cheese(optional)
- 2 sprigs coriander
- 1 tbsp oil
Take 2 liters of water in a vessel, add cloves, cardamoms, cinnamon sticks and salt.
Add chicken breast and boil for 10 minutes.
Turn off the flame and remove the chicken pieces.
Let them cool down for few minutes and slice the chicken into small strips.
Heat oil in a pan.
When the oil is hot, add onion paste, green chilies, salt, ginger garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder and mix well.
Add tomato paste and cook until the oil oozes out.
Later, add coriander powder, garam masala powder and mix.
Pour ½ cup water and cook until the gravy thickens.
Add the boiled chicken pieces and mix well.
Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, add coriander leaves and turn off the flame.
Heat dosa pan and spread 2 spoonfuls of dosa batter.
Break an egg on dosa and spread it with a spoon.
Pour oil around the dosa and wait until the egg sticks to dosa.
Add chicken curry, cheese, coriander leaves and fold dosa.
