Raw banana curd chutney is my favorite among all the recipes made with plantains.you may wonder why i have added too many green chillies .because i like eating too spicy. in the original recipe(video version given below) i used 15 green chillies. but you can add them according to your taste. anyway tanginess of tamarind and curd kills the spiciness of green chillies. This chutney tastes great when served with hot rice.

Raw bananas chutney mixed with curd.
Ingredients
- For chutney
- raw bananas (curry bananas) – 2
- green chillies – 10
- tamarind – 1 big lemon sized
- cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
- coriander seeds – 1 teaspoon
- garlic cloves – 6 to 10
- curd – 200 grams
- coriander leaves – 1/4 cup
- oil – 4 teaspoons
- turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
- salt – as required
- For tempering
- mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon
- cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
- dried red chillies – 2
- curry leaves – 2 sprigs
- asafoetida (hing) – 1/4 teaspoon
- oil – 2 teaspoons
Instructions
Boiling raw bananas
- rinse bananas thoroughly and cut each into halves.
- take a thick bottomed vessel and fill it with water up to half.
- add cut bananas and bring the water to a boil.
- cook bananas for 4-5 minutes from the boiling point and turn off the heat.
- strain out the water and let the bananas cool down.
- remove the skins,cut them into medium-sized pieces and keep aside.
Frying and grinding for Chutney
- heat oil in a pan,add cumin seeds,coriander seeds,green chillies,tamarind,fry till the green chillies becomes soft,take them into a plate and keep aside.
- add boiled banana pieces and sauté for 2 minutes.
- meanwhile put fried green chillies in a grinder jar,add garlic cloves,salt and make into a coarse paste.
- next add banana pieces to that and run the mixer for 15-20 seconds.
- take the chutney into a bowl,add turmeric powder ,curd and mix well.
For tempering
- heat oil in a tadka pan,add mustard seeds,cumin seeds,red chillies, asafoetida/hing,curry leaves and let them sizzle.
- turn off the heat and pour tadka on the chutney.
- add chopped coriander leaves.
Notes
1.you can also use microwave for boiling bananas.[br]2.for that,take microwave safe bowl,add water and bananas and microwave it for 8-10 minutes.
