Nellore Fish Curry – How to make Andhra Mango fish Curry

By BINDU 2 Comments

Nellore Fish Curry with step by step instructions.తెలుగు వెర్షన్.
nellore fish curry

I heard of this famous Nellore fish Curry but never prepared before.I don’t know how to make it.but luckily, a few days back I got the recipe.I came to know that this curry is prepared with mango.so I have tried the recipe on that weekend.and it turned out really amazing.first I thought to make this with boneless fish and when I was about to place an order online, my daughter stopped me saying “Mom!don’t buy boneless fish.this curry tastes good only when you prepare with normal fish.if you really want to enjoy the actual taste you need to take the struggle of taking out the bones”.and I totally agree with her.

for this recipe, you can use any fish of your choice.hey, but not the boneless ;).please follow my daughter’s words just this time.make sure that the mango is unripe and extremely sour.if we take 50 grams of tamarind for the normal fish curry then 30 grams is enough for this Nellore style fish curry.the remaining sourness comes from the mango.you need to use water for the gravy.the quantity of water should be equal to the quantity of fish. Here in this recipe, I took 700 grams of fish pieces.so I have used 700 ml of water.from that I used 200 ml for soaking the tamarind.later added the 200ml tamarind juice and the remaining 500 ml water to the curry.

you don’t need to add any garam masala to the curry.instead, you need to use the powder of slightly roasted mustard, fenugreek& cumin seeds.this brings a very nice subtle flavor and amazing taste to the recipe.I have used a clay pot for making the recipe but you can use any normal vessel.you shouldn’t use the ladle after once you add the fish pieces.otherwise, the fish pieces will turn mushy.if you want to mix the curry, just hold the vessel with a kitchen towel and move the vessel in a circular motion gently.this curry tastes even better when served after a few hours of cooking.I hope you try and enjoy this amazing and authentic Nellore fish Curry Recipe.
